About Michael
Hi, Michael Wilson here. I just want to introduce myself and give you a little info about me so you know what motivated me to take the Body by Vi 90 Day Challenge.
I am a full time entrepreneur and business owner – an online marketing consultant. I started my second career as a business owner after a corporate career spanning more than 20 years. I love what I do and I love working with other entrepreneurs, starting businesses and growing businesses.
However, my current business – and most of the job assignments I had during my corporate career – were sedentary. That means I sat on my ass all day.
Not a big problem when I was younger. Not a big deal as I got older either since I was always athletic and kept active.
I should look for a ‘younger’ picture to put here – just to show the ‘body image’ I carried in my mind’s eye until recently – of when I was younger and thinner.
Here is what happened over the last 15 years, especially over the last 2 or 3 years:
I never thought of myself as ‘fat’ … but looking at the pictures, I can see I was cutting myself quite a bit of slack!
In fact, during a recent conversation with my daughter, a Registered Nurse, I began to accept the fact that I was, in fact, in the “obese” category according to the accepted stance of the medical profession!
Ouch! The body image I had held onto so tightly in my minds eye exploded!
I realized it was time for a change. I wasn’t scared because I had lost weight many times before and I had always been able to lose it relatively easily. Now changing my shape – losing my belly – had never been easy.
My Family
Diabetes runs in my family. I could probably claim that slow metabolism runs in my family – maybe that’s why I’ve gained weight as I have gott
en older.
But I don’t want to start pointing fingers – before I know it, I’ll end up in a lawsuit against McDonald’s!
(I do love those fries, though!)
Family is important to me, always has been, always will be. The family I grew up in and my own children. And while I know I am primarily responsible for my own health and fitness, family is a big motivator for me – I want to be around for a long, long time.
Here’s part of my motivation to get in better shape, take the Body by Vi Challenge, and improve my personal health:
Healthy and Happy
I realized that I needed to change something if I wanted to live a full, healthy, happy life. Plain and Simple.
I chose the Body by Vi Challenge for my personal health. You can read about my experience with Body by Vi – the Vi-Shape shakes and other products and the company itself – as it unfolds right here on this blog.
But there is one other, specific, motivating factor in my decision.
Many people develop Type II diabetes … and I don’t want to be one of them!
As I said, it runs in my family. My mother has Type II diabetes. She was diagnosed 5 or 6 years ago and has battled the disease, successfully, by making big life changes. She’s an inspiration and I know it is difficult, daily.
I am committed to addressing the risk factors for Diabetes that I can control – my diet and exercise, for example. Vi-Shape shakes are working for a lot of people I know that are trying to control their diabetes; that is one of the reasons I chose these specific products.
My Mother is my motivation for being a Capital Area Red Rider, which is a Team riding in the Tour de Cure 2011 to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.
There is no one reason that I like the Body by Vi Challenge … instead, there are many motivations that all seemed to come together at the same time.
Taking the Body by Vi Challenge, really committing myself to a change, has caused quite a bit of reflection. The more I looked at my personal goals – health, family, extended family, business – the more energized I got about how good of a fit Body by Vi is for me.
Now … if I could just fit back into those skinny jeans!
Update about those skinny jeans: I did it!
